Pleasured Into Depression
Jun 26th, 2009 by Trace
Too much pleasure can actually cause depression in our teenagers. I think it’s time to whip this horse to death. Until we realize that our technological babysitters ( TV, video games, internet, cellphones, etc.) are damaging our kids’ ability to think critically, constructively, and creatively when not properly monitored, we are spinning our wheels as parents if we are hoping for a spiritually and emotionally healthy child or teenager. I’m not against any of these things–no more than I’m against cupcakes or twinkies. However, too much of any good thing will wreck an individual–I don’t care how old one is. Why are third world kids often seen laughing and smiling, while our overly pleasured and overly sensative spoiled brats are grumbling and pouting that their Happy Meal wasn’t supersized? The third world kids would consider any meal a “happy” meal! Anhedonia has taken our nation by storm. And I’m going to write about it until someone somewhere will link me up to someone who can help us! Let me hear from you.
